Compass Agents Gain Access to New Real Estate Trade Group
Compass, Inc. has announced that its agents and brokers will now have the opportunity to join the American Real Estate Association (ARA). Under the terms of the agreement, professionals employed by company-owned operations under the Compass International Holdings umbrella will receive complimentary membership through the end of 2027.
ARA, which launched in 2024, markets itself as an alternative to traditional trade organizations. The standard cost for individual membership is $20 annually, though a “founding member” tier is available for a one-time fee of $1,500, which covers dues for a decade. The addition of Compass signals a significant expansion for the relatively new association.
Robert Reffkin, chairman and CEO of Compass, emphasized the importance of competition within the industry. He stated that real estate professionals have historically had limited choices regarding national representation and noted that this partnership allows Compass agents to select an association that must actively demonstrate its value.
The move follows a series of strategic alignments for ARA. In recent months, the trade group added RE/MAX president and chief growth officer Chris Lim to its board of directors and extended free first-year memberships to RE/MAX agents in the United States. Additionally, Douglas Elliman, which boasts a workforce of over 6,600 agents, recently integrated its membership into the ARA.
Mauricio Umansky, co-founder of ARA and CEO of The Agency, characterized the inclusion of Compass agents as a pivotal moment for the organization. He asserted that the shift reflects a move toward a higher standard of professionalism where client needs are prioritized.
As of the latest market check, Compass, Inc. shares were trading at $11.88, up 0.68% for the session. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $8.27 billion.
