Vici Properties Eyes Las Vegas NBA Arena Development Amid Revenue Growth
Vici Properties Inc. has indicated it is prepared to support the development of a National Basketball Association (NBA) arena in Las Vegas. During a recent second-quarter earnings call, executives highlighted that the real estate investment trust (REIT) holds significant undeveloped land behind prominent Strip locations, including Planet Hollywood, Paris, and Horseshoe. This positions the company as a potential key player if the league expands to the city.
The discussion comes as the NBA formally reviews the possibility of adding a Las Vegas franchise. Vici President and Chief Operating Officer John Payne pointed to the rapid expansion of professional sports in the region, which now includes the NFL, NHL, and WNBA. Additionally, the Oakland A’s are set to relocate to Las Vegas, further solidifying the city’s status as a major sports market. However, executives clarified that no definitive agreements regarding an arena complex have been signed at this time.
Vici is currently the largest landowner on the Las Vegas Strip, with a portfolio that features iconic assets such as Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, and the Venetian. The potential development of a sports venue aligns with the company’s focus on “experiential” real estate. This strategy targets the growing demand for entertainment and leisure destinations, a sector that has seen robust activity in recent years.
Financially, the Manhattan-based REIT reported a strong second quarter for 2026. The company generated $1.1 billion in revenue, representing a 5.7% increase compared to the previous year. For the first half of the year, total revenue reached $2.07 billion. These figures reflect the continued performance of its 93-property portfolio, which capitalizes on the recovery in travel and entertainment spending.
Vici Properties is currently trading at $26.26, down 2.7% from the previous close. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $29.87 billion and operates within the diversified REIT sector.
