OriginPoint Expands West Coast Footprint with $165M Halliday-Levin Team
Mortgage lender Compass, Inc. affiliate OriginPoint has significantly bolstered its origination capabilities by recruiting a high-producing team from New American Funding. Effective July 27, loan officers Erin Halliday and Jon Levin joined the Chicago-based lender, bringing with them an estimated $165 million in annual loan volume and a combined 50 years of industry experience.
The partnership with Halliday and Levin provides OriginPoint with immediate access to established markets in California and Hawaii. These regions are characterized by high housing costs and complex financial scenarios, areas where the new hires specialize. Levin brings over three decades of expertise, dating back to the late 1980s, with a focus on intricate financing structures such as debt-service-coverage ratio loans and LLC ownerships. Halliday complements this with a 25-year background that spans conventional, government, and jumbo lending.
Strategic recruitment of this nature has become a critical tactic for lenders navigating a housing market constrained by elevated interest rates and limited inventory. Rather than relying solely on organic growth, companies are increasingly targeting seasoned originators with existing referral networks to drive volume.
Recent data underscores the productivity of the new hires. Over the trailing 12 months, Halliday recorded 167 closed loans totaling approximately $149 million, with the majority categorized as conventional. Meanwhile, OriginPoint has been expanding its workforce, growing its loan officer count to 219 by the end of July, up from 183 the previous year.
The announcement comes as Compass, Inc. trades with a market capitalization of approximately $8.51 billion. The company’s stock recently moved to $11.74, representing an increase of roughly 4.45% from the previous close.
