TekSynap Expands Footprint at BXP’s Reston Town Center Campus
BXP has secured a new tenant for its Reston Town Center property in Northern Virginia. Federal IT contractor TekSynap has committed to a long-term lease for 26,500 square feet on the second floor of 11921 Freedom Drive.
Currently headquartered nearby at 1900 Oracle Way, TekSynap plans to relocate its core services team to the new location. The company intends to utilize the space as a digital nerve center to support its operations in cloud integration, cybersecurity, and software development for defense and intelligence agencies. The firm employs approximately 1,800 people, including subcontractors.
Reston Town Center is a significant mixed-use asset in BXP’s portfolio, spanning 5 million square feet. The campus features roughly 50 retailers and more than 30 restaurants, alongside newer expansions near the Silver Line Metro station. Erin Cotter, BXP’s vice president of office leasing, indicated that the transaction reflects ongoing demand for amenity-rich office environments.
TekSynap CEO Kam Jinnah framed the move as a milestone resulting from rapid expansion within the government technology sector, particularly as artificial intelligence reshapes information technology. Cole Spalding of Newmark represented TekSynap in the transaction.
For BXP, the lease adds to activity during a period of portfolio adjustment. The REIT recently reported completing 1.8 million square feet of leasing in the second quarter. Executives have noted that recent financial results were affected by the planned sale of Sumner Square in Washington, D.C., with a total of six properties currently under contract for sale totaling $240 million.
Shares of BXP were trading at $70.41 on Tuesday, representing a market capitalization of approximately $12.34 billion. The company is recognized as the largest publicly traded developer, owner, and manager of premier workplaces in the United States, with a concentration in major gateway markets including the Washington, D.C. area.
