Zillow Expands CFO Hofmann Role to Operations Amidst Restructuring
Zillow Group, Inc. is undergoing significant changes in its executive hierarchy. The company announced that Chief Financial Officer Jeremy Hofmann will assume the additional role of Chief Operating Officer. This consolidation of leadership roles follows a restructuring effort that reduced the company’s workforce by approximately 7%, equating to over 500 employees.
According to Zillow, the integration of the COO and CFO positions is designed to more closely align capital allocation and operational planning. Hofmann, a nine-year veteran of the company, has been credited as a key architect of Zillow’s current business strategy. The board of directors emphasized his deep understanding of the company’s strategic goals and operational structure as the rationale behind the expanded scope.
The shift follows the departure of Jun Choo from the operating chief role. Choo, who had served as COO since November 2024, is stepping down to focus on health matters. He will remain with the company in an advisory capacity through the end of 2026.
In conjunction with Hofmann’s promotion, the digital real estate platform has created a new C-suite position. Cassandra “Sandi” Knight has been appointed as the first chief legal and policy officer. Knight joins Zillow from Google, where she held the title of vice president of litigation and discovery. Her previous experience also includes a tenure as vice president and chief litigation counsel at PayPal. In her new role, Knight will oversee legal, compliance, and government relations, reporting directly to CEO Jeremy Wacksman.
These leadership adjustments arrive as the company navigates a shifting housing market. Zillow Group currently maintains a market capitalization of approximately $8.26 billion. Shares are trading near $36.10, down fractionally from the previous close.
