JLL Bolsters Office Leasing Team with CBRE Veteran Hire

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated has added leasing broker Grant Killingsworth to its roster, acquiring him from competitor CBRE Group, Inc. The move comes as the commercial office sector shows indications of renewed activity. Killingsworth’s transition from one major real estate services firm to another highlights the ongoing competition for talent capable of navigating the evolving office landscape.

Both JLL and CBRE are prominent players in the real estate services industry, advising clients on leasing, property management, and investment. JLL currently trades with a market capitalization of approximately $17.19 billion, while CBRE holds a market cap of roughly $44.26 billion. On the day of the announcement, JLL shares saw a slight increase, trading around $371.03, up 0.46% from the previous close. Conversely, CBRE stock dipped approximately 0.45% to $147.30.

The hiring of experienced brokers is often viewed as a strategic step for firms looking to capitalize on specific market segments. As tenant requirements shift in the current economic climate, brokerage houses are strengthening their teams to secure larger and more complex leasing deals.

What to watch

  • Future leasing volume reports from major firms to gauge the recovery of the office sector.
  • Upcoming quarterly earnings from JLL and CBRE for insights into commission revenue and recruitment expenses.
