CBRE to Acquire Tenet Equity from Cerberus in $1.6 Billion Deal
Private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management has agreed to sell its real estate company, Tenet Equity, to CBRE Group in a transaction valued at approximately $1.6 billion, according to a report published by TradingView.
The deal hands CBRE, one of the largest commercial real estate services and investment firms globally, a new platform as it continues to expand across its Advisory Services, Building Operations and Experience, Project Management, and Real Estate Investments segments.
News of the transaction arrived during a difficult trading session for CBRE shares, which closed at $142.26, down about 4% from the prior close of $148.20. The company’s market capitalization stands at roughly $42.8 billion.
Cerberus, which has built and monetized a range of financial and real asset businesses over the years, is exiting its stake in Tenet Equity as part of the sale. The transaction underscores continued consolidation in real estate services, where large diversified platforms have been acquiring specialized capabilities to broaden service offerings for institutional clients.
While the release did not detail Tenet Equity’s portfolio or staffing footprint, the $1.6 billion price tag places the acquisition among the more notable real estate services deals of the year. For CBRE, the move adds to a track record of bolt-on and platform acquisitions aimed at deepening its investment management and services operations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and other international markets.
The transaction is expected to be subject to customary closing conditions, and neither party disclosed an expected completion timeline in the initial announcement.
