Jason Maurer Joins SL Green as Managing Director

Jason Maurer has joined SL Green Realty, Manhattan’s largest office landlord, as a managing director.
In his new role, Maurer will oversee retail leasing across the company’s portfolio, as well as lead office leasing for Green Property Services, SL Green’s third-party asset management platform, according to the firm.
Maurer joins SL Green from Brookfield Properties, now known as BGRE. He joined the company as a vice president in 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile, and over the course of eight years rose to the dual roles of executive vice president and head of leasing for North America.
Maurer’s two decades of retail and office leasing experience also includes roles at Newmark, Ripco Real Estate and General Growth Properties, spanning leasing strategy, portfolio positioning and mixed-use assets.
“SL Green has long been one of the defining players in New York commercial real estate, with an institutional-quality portfolio and a depth of expertise that’s hard to replicate,” Maurer said in a statement. “What has impressed me is how entrepreneurial the company remains given that scale. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience across retail and office leasing to build on the strength of SL Green’s retail portfolio across New York while helping grow Green Property Services.”
Green Property Services provides leasing and management services to properties owned by outside landlords. As of late September, the business operates across five buildings, totalling 1.3 million square feet.
Maurer holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan. After graduating in 2004, he joined Newmark Knight Frank, now Newmark, in its retail arm. He currently serves on the board of the Alliance for Downtown New York, Lower Manhattan’s business improvement district.
A spokesperson for BGRE declined to comment on the news.
