D.R. Horton Adds 232 Homesites at Estrella Master-Planned Community for $32.7 Million
Arlington, Texas-based homebuilder D.R. Horton has purchased 232 homesites in the Estrella master-planned community for approximately $32.7 million, according to a report from Real Estate Daily News.
The transaction works out to roughly $141,000 per homesite on average, giving the builder a fresh pipeline of finished lots in one of the region’s large-scale residential developments. Land acquisition is a core part of D.R. Horton’s operating model, with the company active in buying and developing ground across 126 markets in 36 states.
Estrella is a master-planned community offering homebuilders phased releases of lots, and builders’ continued purchases of homesites there signal ongoing demand expectations for new single-family construction in the area. Master-planned communities have been a favored source of lots for national builders, providing scale and predictable lot delivery schedules.
The purchase underscores how large homebuilders continue to commit capital to land even as mortgage rates have kept affordability pressured across the housing market. Builders with strong balance sheets have been able to keep adding lots while smaller private operators face tighter financing conditions.
Shares of D.R. Horton were unchanged in recent trading at $135.57, leaving the company with a market capitalization of roughly $39.9 billion. The company is classified in the residential construction industry within the consumer cyclical sector.
