D.R. Horton Acquires Final 232 Lots at Lucero Village as Land Pipeline Nears Completion

D.R. Horton, Inc. has purchased the remaining 232 homesites at the Lucero Village community, closing out the homebuilder’s land position in the development, according to a report from yourvalley.net.

The transaction marks the final tranche of lots at the community, giving the nation’s largest homebuilder by volume full control of its build-out there. Land acquisition of this kind is a routine but strategically important step for large production builders, which work years in advance to secure finished lots so that construction schedules and new-home deliveries can be planned with confidence.

The purchase comes as the homebuilding sector continues to navigate a market shaped by elevated mortgage rates and constrained resale inventory, dynamics that have pushed many buyers toward newly constructed homes and prompted builders to compete on incentives and financing packages. Owning lots outright, rather than relying on option agreements, reduces execution risk for a community’s full development timeline.

D.R. Horton operates across six regions — East, North, Southeast, South Central, Southwest and Northwest — building and selling homes in 126 markets spanning 36 states. The company also engages in land acquisition and development, making lot purchases like the Lucero Village closing a core part of its operating model.

In Friday trading, shares of the Arlington, Texas-based homebuilder changed hands at $137.89, up 1.71% from the previous close of $135.57, giving the company a market capitalization of roughly $39.9 billion. The stock is classified in the residential construction industry within the consumer cyclical sector.

While the price paid for the 232 lots was not disclosed in the report, final-phase land purchases often coincide with strong absorption at a community, since builders typically exercise options for remaining lots as sales pace justifies full build-out. Lucero Village’s location within a growing residential corridor positions the community among the company’s Southwest regional operations.
